English through drawing

Vocabulary learning sometimes would be boring. But as teacher we can make it funny and interesting. I am going to share an interesting method that helps me a lot. This method is called English through drawing. By drawing students can revise and integrate new vocabulary easily. For example, they can revise animal names, colors, daily activities, parts of body, shapes, vegetables, fruits, food, and toys and so on.

For instance, we can pick up a blank piece of paper and tell students what page orientation we will use: portrait or landscape layout. Then you can say students to draw their favourite pet, or to draw three pet animals and tree wild animals. After that we can say students to color them .Another funny activity can be to create strange creatures or aliens by mixing up different animals. This method of learning through drawing contributes not only to stimulate student´s creativity, imagination, but enable them to acquire the new vocabulary by using it. In this way, this method applies to one of the principles of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) learning by doing.
