Twelve angry men

A couple of weeks ago, we had the opportunity to see in Oral Expression 2 what I consider one of the greatest movies of all times, " twelve angry men" I had seen it before but I really enjoyed it again. How human miseries are exposed when a group of men have the big responsability to decide about an eighteen year-old boy's life. The mere fact that he is of latin origin is sufficient reason to find him guilty of murder in first grade. How a hypocritic society react before difference. How each of these men put much of their own frustrations and personal experiences and make them weight at the time of voting for guilty.Only an old man felt compassion for the boy and argued he did not certainly know if he was guilty or not; only a man could value life beyond prejudices.

  1. I totally agree with you ! I think it is a very interesting movie to analyse, specially if you pay attention and compare characters' diverse ideologies and opinions. I really liked it, too!

  3. I totally agree with you, this movie really shows how our personal experiences (good or bad ones) can influence on our decisions; decisions that maybe should be objective, like in this case, but become more than subjective. The film shows how diffucult is for human beings to rise above beliefs and ideologies and take a neutral stance. 4. I totally agree with your comments, because all the desicions that the jury made were based on unjustified discriminations. The jury based only in his origin , they considered that he is guilty.

  5. This film highlights the power given to twelve men by the justice system. And that it is in their hands the fate of a young Latin boy.The film states the issue of prejudice, taking for granted that if the boy comes from a slum, he surely would be able to commit a crime due to his past hard life experiences.

  6. This film is great for me because it shows how much Latin-Americans are discriminated in the USA. I think this movie increased my repulsion for citizens in that country.Tania

  7. I think the film lets us see the importance of using our critical thinking to get to the truth and also the risks of letting our thinking skills grow dull.

  8. I also agree with the comments on the movie. It is interesting to see how human nature functions. We never know how many times we take wrong ideas and how these mistakes may lead into huge conflicts.
