The Earth is Calling!

During this year, different natural disasters have taken place in different parts of the world leaving a great number of destroyed houses and buildings. Therefore, thousand and thousand of homeless people, as well as injured or dead ones. Recently, Mexico has suffered different natural catastrophes, one after the other. The main event occurred when torrential rains caused a massive mudslide in Santa María Tlahuitoltepec Mixe, Mexico. The collapse have killed hundreds of people while they slept. It took place during the early morning ,and has destroyed over than three hundred houses and buildings. Many people is still working on the area, the Mexican Army, the Marine Secretariat, the Federal Police, the Public Ministry Officials, Government people, Rescue Teams and Civil Protection System, using different vehicles to access to the area, as well as different resources, such as dog rescuers, who are in charge of looking for people buried in the rubble. Carlos Ramos Aragón, the Mexican State Institute of Civil Protection head, said that he believes that there may be more than one thousand victims. That terrible event occurred as a consequence of the tropical storm, “ Mathew”, that had been hit that country generating floods which has forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes. There were six dead people and four missing as a result from those floods.

I decided to comment on this article because I think it is important to be conscious of the environmental problems. Every day, the Earth is demanding our attention. So, we should respect nature more, because it can be very powerful, isn’t it?

  1. Unluckily, most of us are not aware of the damage that we are causing to the Earth. Starting from the rubish that is thrown on the streets, to the huge pollution that factories produce. Not only governments are responsible for this but also us, citizens. It´s high time we become aware of the environmental problems and start taking action.

  2. The earth is our home, many people forgot that. Nowadays there are environmental refugees all over the globe, in the coasts of mexico and Florida, and a pair of small island in the paficic hava dissapeared completely.
As you well say, the earth is calling, the question is: what are we wating to answer that call?
